Actually it’s a boat and Kid’s ROCK staff! Our Elementary classes are doing a series called Super-U, where they are learning to be World Changers! Yesterday they learned about Noah and how he trusted God even when God’s directions seemed a little odd.

To keep it fun and exciting, each team was given 25 Popsicle sticks. On the sticks each child wrote a sentence or word about a time when it is hard for them to trust God. After they wrote about their struggles, they took their struggles (popsicle sticks) and built a boat. They competition was crazy. All the kids made amazing boats that floated and even stayed above water when pennies were added to sink them.

Who knew being World Changers and trusting God could be so much fun! You don’t want to miss Kid’s ROCK. If you have a child in Club ROCK or Remix, join in the fun by helping them come dress as superheros for God next Sunday!

There are olots of exciting things happening in Kid’s ROCK every Sunday. Let’s take a quick peek at what is on the horizon.

ROCK-A-Bye Babies - We recently moved to our new location and the volunteers have been using prayer cards. When you drop your child off, make sure you let the nursery volunteers know what they can be praying for you and your family about. They will pray for you during the week and then check back in with you on the following week.

Wee ROCK - We are starting a series entitled Jesus Helps Sick People. The children will be learning from Luke 5:17-26 for the next four weeks. Keep checking back for more information on the lesson’s they are learning.

ROCK Stars - ROCK Stars just started a new series entitled “Jesus Shows Me How to Act”. Last week was their first lesson and they learned about The Farmer who sowed his seed. They each planted a seed to take home. We’d love to see pictures of those seeds as they sprout. Bring pictures or the seeds in to show the teachers as they progress.

Club ROCK & Remix - Just finished a series about being Agents of Change. They learned about how they can change their family, their community and their world. This week we are starting a new series called Super U. They will continue to build on the idea of being a world changer by learning how world changers think and live. They will learn about Choosing wisely, Trusting God, Living life on purpose, hanging tough, and taking risk for God. If Club ROCK kids have superhero costumes, let them wear them…we are going to have a blast learning that God is our SuperHero!

We have some very exciting changes coming to Kid’s ROCK. Beginning January 3rd, Kid’s ROCK will be based on grade level instead of age. We will also be relocating some of our classes.

What will that mean for your children?

It will mean that, starting in January, kids will move to the class that is appropriate for their grade level and instead of changing classes throughout the year, our kids will move on a designated Sunday in the summer.

What are the grade levels of the classes?

ROCK-a-Bye Babies & ROCK Climbers - Birth through 3 years old
Wee ROCK - 3 year olds (if they are 3 on or before August 31st of current year)
ROCK Stars - Pre-K (4 years old on or before August 31st of current year) & Kindergarten
Club ROCK - 1st through 3rd grade
ReMix - 4th & 5th grade
Double Take - Double service kids 1st through 5th grade
Flipside (on Wednesday nights) - Middle and High School

Will my child have to move backwards if they are already in a particular class?

No child will be required to move backwards. If they are already in a class, they can stay in that class, but they will stay in that class until it is time to move up to the next grade level.

What classes will be moving?

The nursery and nursing mothers room will be relocated to the former Outreach kitchen and childcare offices area.
Check-In will be located in several locations for better convenience.

Why change to grade levels?

This will allow kids to build deeper more personal relationships with teachers and classmates.
Kids will move as a class so the fears of moving to a new class will be lessened by the fact that they are moving with their friends.

Can we help?

Yes! We need everyone with kids to fill out a new registration card. There will also be lots of painting, building, data entry, and moving that has to take place in the next few weeks, email us for specifics.

Still have more questions?

Email us your questions at helen@rockwilmington.com or matthew@rockwilmington.com

Every Sunday, over 44 volunteers give their time and energy to minister to the children of ROCK Church.
Ms. Fran is one of those amazing volunteers. She serves in ROCK Stars, our 4-5 year old class. She is such a good sport. She told me I could post this crazy picture as long as I put a disclaimer. I am not sure what kind of disclaimer she wanted…maybe that she is not really crazy, but the truth is, Fran is crazy for Jesus and for the kids in ROCK Stars.
Every Sunday she shows up full of laughter and ready to have some crazy fun with the kids in her class. Fran loves watching her Sunday afternoon football, but she never misses a chance to love on the beautiful kids of ROCK Stars first.
Next time you are at church, find the opportunity to hunt down Fran or one of the other crazy, fun loving Kid’s ROCK volunteers with the bright green shirts on and thank them for what they do to serve ROCK Church.

This coming Sunday Wee ROCK and ROCK Stars will be talking about what it means to be a part of God’s family and will be having a family celebration. Club ROCK will be finishing up their Ten Hut series with the discussion about life decisions and how we each have a decision in life of whether to follow God’s direction for our life or choose our own way.

Don’t let your kids miss out on what God is doing. Encourage your children to invite a friend they have been praying for, make several trips to church if you have to in order to drop off all the kids you know that want to come, but don’t miss this opportunity for God to touch a child’s life! Service starts at 9 & 11. We look forwarding to seeing you then.

Wee ROCK and ROCK Stars started a new until on Family that will tie into what is happening in the sanctuary. The children learned about the story of Hannah and how she prayed God would give her a child. They learned that God planned for us to have families. God wants us to love our families. Their Bible Verse this week is 1 Corinthians 13:8 NIV: Love never fails…

Club ROCK is on week 4 of Ten Hut. This week they learned “God is powerful enough to help me do what He wants me to do!” Their Bible verse this week is Philippians 4:6 “Don’t worry about anything but instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done.” NLT Club ROCK kids brought home a devotional sheet. If you have misplaced your sheet, you can email me and I can send you a copy.

ReROCK took the Club ROCK lesson and built on all the things they were learning in Club ROCK. They talked about things that were hard for them to do and how God can give them a way that works for them if they will just pray and ask God to show them.

Not only did we open two new classes for volunteer kids in Kid’s ROCK yesterday, we started a new season in vision. The teacher’s that are working with your children have commited to work every Sunday to help build consistency and relationships with the children of ROCK Church.

Check back later this week for follow up materials from your child’s class. God is doing amazing things.
