December 19th was our big Christmas Celebration and our Kid’s ROCK worship team was given the opportunity to be a part of “big church” that day.  They sang the song by Yancy “Merry Christmas, Happy Christmas” and did an amazing job.

This team is made up of kids from 5th grade-middle school.  It has been incredible to watch this team learn and grow in their gifts and talents.  We meet bi-weekly to practice and they are always excited and willing to try anything.

I am proud of these girls and excited to see what God has for them.

Club ROCK

Main Point – Listen & Obey & on solid ground you’ll stay

Bible Verse – James 1:22 But don’t (shake head like you are saying no) just listen (put your hand to your ear) to God’s word (hold your hands out like a Bible).  You must do (march in place & shake your head yes) what it says.  Otherwise, you are only fooling yourself.

Bible Story – Wise & Foolish Builder – Matthew 7:24-29

Weekly Challenge – see weekly handout for details

Firm Foundation – You can do several different activities to teach about the importance of the foundation.  You can do this activity on cushions from the bed or sofa, on a trampoline, do it with sand or bricks.  The idea is to teach children it’s harder to stand when the foundation is not solid.

Club ROCK

Main Point – Give Your Best & Let God Do the Rest

Bible Verse – Proverbs 3:5 – Trust in the Lord (point to up toward heaven) with all your heart (hand over heart); do not depend (hand in front of you shaking no) on your own understanding (point to your brain). NLT

Bible Story – Sower & 4 Soils – Mark 4:1-20

Weekly Challenge – Through the Hoop

Hang a hula hoop from a tree or garage door or even in a doorway inside your house.  Hang it so that the top of the hula hoop is approximately at your shoulders.  Get a ball that your child can throw and you can catch.  A foam ball, a football, a baseball, or any other kind of ball will work.  Have your family stand on the other side of the hoop from you .  Have them take turns trying to throw the ball to you through the hoop.  Talk about how, if the ball comes through the hoop, it should be easy for you to catch because it is close to you.  If the ball doesn’t go through the hoop, it is much harder for you to catch.  Tell your family that when they throw through the hoop, they are doing their best to throw you the ball.  Remind your family that God wants us to keep telling the people around us about Jesus in the best way that we can.  That is like putting the ball through the hoop.  When we telll people about Jesus, not everyone will catch it.  God doesn’t expect us to make people follow Jesus, but He does expect us to do our best to tell them about Jesus.  Remind your family that one of the best ways to put the ball through the hoop in telling people about Jesus is to invite them to church.  As a family think of some people that you could invite to church and make a plan to do it. – Elevate Upside Down Town
