June 27th I had the opportunity to do something amazing for the first time since I became Children’s Director. I got to lead Baby Dedication. This time around we changed it up a bit.
We had a Baby Dedication Orientation that was held during our 2nd service on a Sunday morning several weeks before the actual dedication evening. At least one parent was required to attend this class. We talked about what Baby Dedication was, what our role as a church was, and what the
role of the parent was in this whole process. Each family left with an assignment to be completed before the night of Baby Dedication.
On the night of Baby Dedication, each family was seated at a table surrounded by their friends and family. Each table’s centerpiece was created specially for that child representing what I felt like the Lord had given me as I prayed for them. Each family had opportunity to share a verse from the Bible they had picked out for their child, share a blessing they had written for their child and share their core values they were going to use to help guide their decisions as parents.
We ended the evening praying over the families and a word from our senior pastor, Pastor Bryan McGee. It was an amazing time and I felt completely honored to be a part of such a special event in the lives of these families.
